If you are frustrated about how to put everything together to build a profitable online business, look no further than these 5 Steps to Massive Profitability with Your Online Marketing Business.
When it comes right down to building a massively profitable online business, most small business owners struggle because they don’t understand their ideal client and they don’t have the the right business structures in place to reach, engage and convert their client or customer.
Online marketing is actually quite simple when you break it down into its basic elements. The good news with online marketing is that everything you need to build a highly profitable online business from the convenience of your home is available for minimal cost.
Profit is key for business owners because profit is what you take home after the expenses of running the business have been paid. The more profit you have the better lifestyle you can enjoy and the more impact you can make for people and causes that you care about.
In the old economy, (before internet marketing) business owners had to exchange hours of their time for the product or service they provided. In the New Digital Age Economy, work can be outsourced to software applications or companies who specialize in providing specific service requests.
Listed below are the 5 Steps to Massive Profitability with Your Online Marketing Business.
-1-Know Your Ideal Customer Intimately
Customers are the life blood of every business. Businesses who become profitable and last for many years are those who have take the time to study the needs, habits and wants of their ideal customers. Small business owners who become intimately acquainted with their customers and structure their business and products around them experience wildly profitable success.
By taking the time to accurately define your ideal customer profile (avatar) you will be able to do a better job of driving content marketing, SEO, paid traffic, brand positioning and copy writing on your website and marketing materials.
To create your Ideal Client Avatar simply write down your answer the following questions:
WHO ARE THEY? How old are they; what is their gender, marital status, income level, occupation? What are their values?
WHAT ARE THEIR PAINS/FRUSTRATIONS? What is their main problem? What is having that problem costing them? What could happen if they don’t fix that problem?
WHAT DO THEY WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING? What are their dreams and aspirations? Are they still actively seeking solutions? How can you help them get what they want most? How can you help them when others have not been successful in helping them?
-2- Design The Perfect Product Solution
When you intimately understand your ideal customer, you are ready to find create a perfect product for them. The perfect product is one that meets the need your ideal customer has by solving a pressing problem or fulfilling an urgent desire that they haven’t already found a solution for.
The key thoughts to keep in mind when creating the perfect product for your ideal customer is 1) your product must be able to deliver massive value and 2) you must be able to relive an urgent pain, solve an urgent problem or deliver an urgent desire.
Having said that, all products start with what successful business entrepreneurs call “a big idea”. Your big idea is what you will develop to express your passion and purpose to the world. Now your BIG IDEA could solve a problem about dating or parenting or cooking. It could solve a problem about organizing or gardening or landscaping or buying cars or any number of things. Your big idea could bring an urgent desire for relief of pain or fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
Your BIG IDEA comes from your own passion, purpose and life experience. If you are an internet marker, your BIG IDEA can easily become a digital product and your product can then become your business income. Your big idea could be how to train German Shepherd Puppies or how to foster loving relationships or how to get out of debt or how to make money in the stock market. Anything that you are both knowledgeable and passionate about could be a really big idea for a product that you can sell online.
If you are already a coach, a consultant, a self-employed professional or business owner, you are using your big idea in your practice to help people get from problem point A (where they are now) to solution point B (where they want to be). By gaining clarity and defining your signature process, you can easily create a digital product to solve big problems for your ideal client.
In The Prosper Method Community, I will show you the specific steps to take to clearly define your product, validate the market for your product and produce your product with minimal time and expense.
-3- Create Engaging Landing Pages
I love landing pages. A landing page can be a stand alone website or several sections or pages within a website. Landing pages are accessed by a call to action (CTA) link from an outside ad, external website or your own website content.
In fact, the sales funnel you create to move website visitors from suspects to paying customers is simply a series of landing pages that follow your sales process. So before you create your landing pages, take a few minutes and write down the sequential steps in your sales process. Ask yourself “what actions do I want my ideal client to take before they buy my program, time or services; and what is the order I want them to follow?”
Before you actually start building your landing pages there are a few things you need to know–namely, that high converting websites have a number of landing pages. Each landing page has a single goal and a single call to action form on its page. Here are a couple of examples of CTA forms.
For example, let’s say you create a simple lead magnet like a free cheat sheet or a resource guide of some kind. Ideally, you want your prospective customer to opt in to your email list. Once they’ve done that, there could be other actions that you want them to take.
Maybe you want them to book a phone appointment with you or you might want them to enroll in your upcoming webinar or buy a product or service from you. Each one of the actions you want them to take should have its own, individual landing page with a single form and call to action in mind. The page might be an appointment confirmation page or video series, whatever the case it should be a specific page for that specific action.
I started growing my business with a simple Facebook ad that drove traffic to a landing page with my opt in lead magnet. Once the lead submits their email information, they are directed to a “Thank-You Page” with the download link to my lead magnet. On the Thank You page, I positioned for the next action which was an offer to walk them through the lead magnet and then acquaint them with my information-packed workshop series or webinar where I go into greater detail about whatever problem my lead magnet offer helps them solve.
The next step in my sales process is to schedule them for a free diagnostic call after they have attended my webinar. A word of advice…if you are in the coaching or consulting business, never offer a free consultation. Instead, offer a 15-30 minute strategy call where you help them get crystal clear on their most important goal. The goal of my strategy call is to qualify them for my high-end group or individual coaching program.
So in a nutshell my sales process is–Facebook ad to a lead magnet to a free webinar to either a strategy call or a low priced product. Each step has it’s own landing page in my sales funnel.
-4- Build A High-Conversion Website
Your website is your authority engine. It is the central hub of all your online business activities. But, no matter how many bells and whistles you add to your site, it is worthless to you if it does not help you convert leads to prospects and prospects to customers.
We’ve already talked a good deal about landing pages which are the critical work horse pages on your website, each one of which has a specific call to action. But, in addition to landing pages, there are other elements of good web design that lend to the engagement and conversion ability of your online marketing website.
Before we discuss the elements of high-conversion websites, I need to give you a quick concept of the marketing to sales process that your website must incorporate. Simply put, there are three basic phases that you need to keep in mind when building your website. 1) You must CONTACT the right lead; 2) You must CONNECT with the lead; 3) You must CONVERT the lead to a customer.
Converting leads to prospects and prospects to clients or customers is all about building trust. High-conversion websites build authority first and then trust. The way that happens starts with how you put together 1) your basic site pages (home page, service page, contact page, offer page and so forth), 2) your landing pages (CTA pages) 3) the actual content of your site (on your pages and blog) and 4) your sales funnel.
Like anything, there is a right way and a wrong way to design your website. If you want to build a high-conversion website you need to observe the basic elements of site design like keeping a consistent color scheme and font style, above the fold and below the fold content, easy and clear site navigation, easy purchase process with minimal re-direction and of course, excellent high-value content that speaks to and fits perfectly with the needs of your ideal client.
I have created a two-page cheat sheet for you that is a must-have for every online business marketer. I used the guidelines on this cheat sheet to build the site you are looking at and you can do the same thing. It’s easier to do than you think. You can access it here. And once again, I promise no mind-numbing high tech jargon.
-5- Follow-Up With Email Marketing
The fifth step you must have to build your massively profitable online marketing business is an eMail Marketing System. Most online marketers use some kind of auto-responder email service provider like Awebber, Get Response or InfusionSoft. Auto-responder service providers generally charge a monthly fee.
If you are just getting started you might want to consider a free service like Mail Chimp that is free for the first 2,500 subscribers. Regardless of which service you use, you need to have some good email letters in place for your sales funnel process/landing pages.
Now I know that seems like another mind-numbing thing to do, but let me make it easy for you. I have created a simple template for you that touches on the five motivating steps that are essential for conversion, e.g. getting them to take action.
The Prosper Method 5 Step Copy Strategy for converting prospects into customers is simple: 1) state the problem, 2) position the promise, 3) provide proof, 4) ask the ping question and 5) promote the offer. Each email letter needs to include these five parts.
Your email system is part of the nurturing, trust-building sequence. When your ideal customer knows and feels that you truly understand them because they realize that you have tapped into their pain and frustration better than anyone, they will trust you to help them solve their problem. If you have done your homework in building your customer avatar you are solid.
The promise part of every email is the vision of what life will be like once they go from point A to point B. Although I advise you to not guarantee anything, you can state what the ultimate result will be IF THEY FOLLOW THROUGH with your process.
Proof is an essential part of every sales email. Proof comes in the form of testimonials or case studies. The more proof you provide, the better.
The ping in an email letter is the asking of a simple question that evokes a thought, response or action. Ping questions include things like, “Where do we go from here?” “What do you want to happen in the next 90 days? Do you want X or Y?” “What is your biggest frustration with ____? How can I help you get from A to B?”
The promotion part of your email letter sequence is simply what your offer is and why they need it. Along with the promotion, you might choose to add an urgency feature like act now and get 50% off discount or buy one course and get the second one free or 20% off your membership site.
I guarantee that if you successfully incorporate all five of these steps into the building of your online marketing business you will build a wildly profitable online business. But I also know that the problem you will have is in the actual execution of each of the steps.
It’s one thing to know what to do. But it’s an entirely different thing to actually do what it takes to build your 7-Figure business and to do it in the right order.
That’s why I have created The Prosper Method M.E.E.T.S. Community.
